Eli 3rd Hour Field Study

November 26 2024 Date and time: 12:00 p.m. Present climate conditions: sunny with clouds here and there Temperature: 36 degrees length of day: 9 hours and 23 minutes organisms smelled, felt, heard, or seen, etc (sketches/photos/video where possible)  Water: The water was perfectly clear like usual. It had no trace of algae. There where some bluegill minnows by the shore like usual, along with at least ten muskrat holes. The cattails where all dormant. The water was pretty high and cold.  Meadow/Beach: There were some deer tracks scattered throughout the beach and meadow. There was a great amount of new mushrooms that had come up, which was surprising due to the cold weather. There was every color of mushroom/ fungi except for blue. The moss looked like it was a little less vibrant today compared to last time.  Woods: There was a lot of fungal growth here as well. November 14, 2024 Date and time: 1:00 Present climate conditions: Cloudy, very moist and slight mist. Temperature: 45 degrees length of day: 9 hours and 46 minutes organisms smelled, felt, heard, or seen, etc (sketches/photos/video where possible)  Water: The water was far clearer than I have seen it in the past; It was like looking into glass. I could see the bottom crystal clear throughout the whole pond, and there was not a trace of any living algae. There were some really small minnows swimming close to the shore, even smaller than any of the other ones i've seen before. This is kind of strange because it is later in the year. Meadow/Beach: There was just a fresh rain, so there were no tracks by the water. This wet weather caused the moss on the meadow to flourish- it is the only green thing left that still looks like its not dormant. October 31, 2024 Date and time: 1:00 Present climate conditions: Cloudy, windy, light rain Temperature: 66 degrees length of day: 10 hours and 20 minutes organisms smelled, felt, heard, or seen, etc (sketches/photos/video where possible)  Water: The water by the cattails was covered in the dead leaves that had fallen from the trees. It was very windy, so most of the minnows were by the shore under the dead leaves. See the video I attached to see the minnows. The water was definitely more clear then any of the other times I have seen it, and much more cold. Meadow/Beach: This area looked very similar to what I saw last time, if not the same. The major changes were how some of the plants have died, the beach being very muddy (probably from all of the rain), the cattails were in the process of turning yellow, and there were a few new sets of deer tracks.  Woods: In the woods, pretty much all of the leaves have fallen of the trees, but there are a few small saplings that still ha...

Date and time:  Friday, October 11, 2024 at 1:00 Present climate conditions: Partly cloudy Temperature: 68 degrees   length of day: 11 hours and 13 minutes  organisms smelled, felt, heard, or seen, etc (sketches/photos/video where possible)  Water: The water was really low this time. The average depth of the pond when I looked across it was about two feet. Because of this I didn't see kind of bigger bass or bluegill. I did see a decent amount of minnows swimming in the shallow water. All of the minnows in the shallow water have grow a lot since the first field study, some of them being about 2 inches. There was no algae growth what so ever, and the water was perfectly clear. Meadow/Beach: The beach is enormous because of the low water table. There is a four foot section of beach in some areas. The meadow is also very dry, with most of the moss and grass looking dormant or dead. I had to did about 3 inches into the soil to feel any kind of most sand/dirt. Woods: The w...

Date and time:  Saturday, September 28, 3:00 Present climate conditions: Cloudy.  Temperature 73 length of day: 11 hours and 50 minutes. organisms smelled, felt, heard, or seen, etc (sketches/photos/video where possible)  Water: Minnows are still in shallow, the water has risen since last visit. The water temperature went down along with the algae growth as well. Meadow/Beach: I saw more deer tracks in the wet beach mud and the beach has expanded. The grass is starting to die, but the moss still looks healthy and well.  Woods: The moss in the woods was looking very dry, but it is surprising with the amount of rain we have got in the last few days. The trees look very similar to what they did when I last did my field study, but I did observe a mushroom that looked very brown and almost like a piece of bark.I also heard a phoebe calling off in the distance. Changes noticed since last visit: Water level rising, beach expanding, grass dying, moss looking dry in the woods...
